Ocean Beach Kiwanis Fishing Derby
When: Saturday September 22, 2012, 8 am to 11 am
Where: Ocean Beach Pier.
What: A free fishing contest for children up to age 12. Free bait and refreshments are provided; you must bring your own fishing pole and gear. Families are encouraged to fish together, but only fish caught by the child are eligible for prizes.

7th annual Ocean Beach Canine Carnival
When: Sunday October 28, 2012
Where: Dusty Rhodes Park.
What: It's a "Howl-O-Ween" carnival for OBceans and their best friends. Costume contest and costume parade, street fair, food, games. The event is free, but there is a registration fee to take part in the costume contest and parade.
Schedule:
Craft fair, food, and games: 10 am to 4 pm
Registration for doggie costume contest: 11 am to 1 pm
Costume parade of all registered dogs: 1:30 - 2:30 pm
Prizes announced at 3 pm

65th Annual Ocean Beach Kiwanis Kite Festival
When: Saturday, March 2, 2013, starting at 9:00 am.
Where: Ocean Beach Recreation Center

What: A fun day of festivities including a crafts fair, food and entertainment along with kite making, decorating and a flying contest.
Schedule:
9 a.m. -12:30 p.m.
Kite making at Ocean Beach Rec. Center, all materials will be supplied.
11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Hot dogs and punch for participants & live band on Ocean Beach Elementary School
court yard.
9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Craft Fair Booths, Amusement Rides on Santa Monica Blvd.
1 p.m.
Kite Judging on Ocean Beach Elementary School court yard.
