The Kiwanis Club of Ocean Beach puts on FOUR events for the community each year.
OCEAN BEACH KITE FESTIVAL
The first Saturday in March is the date for our best known event: the Ocean Beach Kite Festival. This is the oldest kite festival for children in the United States, presented continuously for 62 years by Ocean Beach Kiwanis, in cooperation with the Ocean Beach Recreation Center and Ocean Beach Elementary School. Free kite making for children, with all materials supplied and prizes for the best decorated kites. Also lunch, a street fair, a parade, and carnival rides. Coming up on March 6, 2010, 9 AM to 4 PM, on Santa Monica Avenue between Sunset Cliffs Blvd. and Ebers St.

OCEAN BEACH CANINE CARNIVAL
We created the Canine Carnival, a Howl-O-Ween carnival for dogs, It was on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009 at Dusty Rhodes Park, with a doggie costume contest and costume parade, as well as food, games, and a street fair.
OCEAN BEACH FISHING DERBY
The Ocean Beach Fishing Derby is a free fishing contest for kids on the OB Pier. It was on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009, 8 AM to 11 AM.
OCEAN BEACH SUMMERFEST
We created a brand new event in 2009: the Summerfest, a community picnic, with food, music, carnival rides, and a street fair. It was on Saturday August 22, at Dusty Rhodes Park. Watch this space for possible changes in 2010.
In addition to these events, the club sponsors the Point Loma High School Key Club, and we are Partners in Education to the Ocean Beach Elementary School (celebrating its HUNDREDTH birthday this year).
